Tropical Traditions: The Essentials For Hosting An Island-Inspired Event
Apr 20, 2017 11:56 AM Back
Whether you’re planning a trip to the Islands for your “I Dos” or exchanging them on “The Island” there’s plenty of inspiration for creating a sophisticated soiree with a totally tropical vibe.
1. Say Thank You With A Grain Of Salt: Consider scribing “mahalo” on bags of Hawaiian sea salt as your favor.
2. Get “Bamboozled”: Use lots of bamboo decorations and accents to accent your island event.
3. Blooms Of Paradise: Think tropical florals such as hibiscus, ginger, orchids and anthurium, just to name a few. You may also want to consider a cascading bouquet made of pikake or plumeria.
4. Bar Code: Consider a Tiki bar replete with tropical island favorites. Serve up some signature island cocktails and use more than tiny umbrellas for garnishes…consider passion fruit and other tropical accents instead. Serve drinks in hollowed out pineapples or coconuts.
5. Seaside Seating: Consider an outdoor ceremony and ask your venue about tropically inspired wicker seating. You may also want to include bold, vibrant linens, etc.
6. Terrific Tropical Tablescapes: Transform hollowed out gourds into vases for your tropical blooms.
7. Tastes Of The Tropics: Base your menu on your favorite tropical getaway. Work with your chef to create palatably pleasing renditions of some of the staples from your favorite places and exotic escapes.
