Montauk
Jun 06, 2010 12:45 PM Back
Yesterday, June 5th was a beautiful day. Although the weather had looked a little bit 'iffy' and the forecast was for rain it was, for the most part, a beautiful day.
I travelled out to Montauk on 6/5 and brought my hubby along with me for company as it's a 3 hour trip from where we live.
We arrived at Gurney's Inn at 1:30 PM which was 1.5 hours early. It was great for Rob (hubby) as he had been really ill last year and I could see that being in the fresh air and seeing the ocean and everything was really great for him. The only thing missing for him were his ocean fishing gear which he decided not to do that day..oh well!
I was there to perform at a ceremony and had been booked by a friend, Tom White of Spin Around Sound.
The weather was fair and the ceremony was to be on the beach. The venue sets everything up so beautifully and are very nice and hospitable to everyone.
The platform they have for live strings/musicians was going to be more than roomy enough as it was just me performing as a Solo Violinist.
With the sound of the ocean and magnificent view of it in front of the bride and groom they exchanged vows and wedding bands at 3:30 that afternoon.
Everything was perfect. I performed 'Ode to Joy' (Beethoven) flowing into 'All You Need is Love' (Beatles) for their Recessional.
As I was packing up and leaving I heard people from the wedding and the wedding party humming 'All You Need is Love'!
I had talked with Tiffany and Peter, the bride and groom just a few days before the wedding and we changed the traditional Recesssional from 'Wedding March' to this one and they were very happy with it.
I congratulated them and left as the steel drummers played at the cocktail hour which was held on one of the upper decks at Gurneys. It was such a perfect day for a wedding near the beach!
Rob (hubby) and I left and drove out to Montauk Pt which was so picturesque. Then we left and drove up to Sag Harbor which was really charming.
On our way home we saw many limousines on the Southern State Pkwy one of which had 'North Fork Winery Tours' as it's logo.
Anyone who had their wedding on 6/5 had a great weather day for their special day!
We are hoping to go out to Gurney's Inn this winter. I always find the sea and walking on the beach a fab thing to do in the winter time
