Kerin & Sean: Wedding
Jan 07, 2010 02:06 PM Back
I usually begin by writing about how much a bride and groom love each other, which certainly is the case with Kerin and Sean, but I'd like to first mention how in awe I am of how loved Kerin and Sean are by their family and friends. At every location we went to it was apparent that everyone around Kerin and Sean wanted nothing more than for their day to be absolutely perfect. I thought early on that these two individuals must be pretty amazing people. After all, you only receive that kind of love from others when you offer the same kind of love right back. I also figured that since it was down-pouring everywhere in the tri-state area except the North Shore of Long Island, they must have excellent karma! By the end of the day I didn't have to make assumptions about Kerin and Sean based on their interactions with others, or by the weather. They treated me with the utmost kindness, respect, hospitality and professionalism.
Their ceremony was held at St. Joseph's church in Babylon. From there we headed to the Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard for photographs before the reception. I have a great appreciation for building restorations that remain true to the building and the town's natural feel. When I originally noticed that the antique barn along 25E was being restored to its original beauty I was taken aback by the way the renovators refrained from creating a new and modern-looking building. They instead created a warm, elegant, old-world styled haven. The owner welcomed us and treated us as honored guests in her home. I was brought upstairs to enjoy cheese and some of the finest wine available. The quaint blue-stone patio with wrought-iron tables and chairs, accompanied by music and laughter, was the most enjoyable setting I've found myself in the midst of in quite some time.
Kerin and Sean had so much fun running through the vineyard, eager to kiss one another at my request, and continued to kiss long after I had gotten the perfect shot. I also took some photos of Kerin and Sean on a large piece of drift wood that had washed up on the shore, and with storm clouds behind them, the result was a truly dramatic scene.
The reception was held at Giorgio's in Baiting Hollow, the staff of which offered exquisite food and service. Kerin's father gave the most heart-felt and memorable speech I've heard in all my years as a wedding photographer. He spoke of his love for his daughter, for all three of his daughters, and how as of this day he had a son as well, and he could not be happier.
Kerin and Sean, I had the most wonderful time spending your wedding day with you. It was an absolute pleasure.
