I got a request from a wedding officiant in Florida.... His daughter was performing a Christmas ceremony in a park that is seriously lit with lights by the local Rotary Club. The groom was coming as Santa, the Bride as a Princess, the MOH as an Elf and the BM as Toy Soldier. Here's what I came up with!
'Twas the night of Christmas, when all through the park
Pedestrians think that we are here on a lark;
None would guess it is on a lifetime journey that you embark,
Santa and Mrs. Claus, to be, arriving by carriage;
With visions in their hearts of nothing but love and marriage,
Their best man standing steadfast and true.
He has watched their love as it grew and grew.
The Maid of Honor, in her eye an elfish twinkle
Is in place to make sure the ceremony goes off without a wrinkle.
When, what to peeking eyes should appear,
But a minister, wondering if she should be dressed as a reindeer,
But the look in this couple's eyes was the same as all those who have
gone before
As they make their promises to Love, honor, cherish and adore
A partner for life
She is the one he will call wife.
And no band but a husband could play the song of her heart
so sexy, silly, sweet and smart.
Today and forever they are lovers and friends
Christmas is the time for giving a love that never ends
Call these two crazy if you must
But never doubt that it is in one another that they trust.
Standing in the snow `neath the Rotary light,
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night.'
