What services do you offer?
We offer dance services in the field of Latin and Ballroom dancing, and give our students the chance to acquire a thorough knowledge of the dance of their choice. We have private lessons available for more personal attention; consultations in regards to their music and dance selection; and a recording of their dance when they choose to do a choreography.
What are the benefits of taking dance lessons before the big day?
Every person wants to be the main attraction of their big day. What better way than to show-off during that first and most memorable dance! Dancing will not only enable couples to be more confident about the reception time, but about themselves. It will give a skill that will enable to have fun and enjoy each other's company and a “hobby” they can do together for the rest of their lives!br>
What types of dances do you specialize in?
We specialize in Latin & Ballroom dancing and that includes: Salsa; Foxtrot ; Waltz ; Cha-Cha; Jive; Rhumba; Tango, and Hustle. These selections enable our students to choose the right dance for their greatest performance!
Do you also do many of the modern day dances?
The modern dances of today are purely an evolution from the most basic dances that have been around for many years. Latin and Ballroom are always going to be a modern because dances such as Salsa, Tango or Waltz are continuously sought after. We offer hip-hop also, which is always a favorite and a most popular modern dance as well.
What can you do for couples who have “two left feet” or where the husband (or wife) doesn’t dance?
At DanceSport we use an interrelated system of instruction so that we can use similar steps in different dances. We feel strongly that dance ability is created through good dance knowledge. Dancers are never born that way!
How soon before the wedding should the couple begin taking dance lessons?
In order to feel comfortable and relaxed enough to enjoy the first dance and put on a nice presentation, DanceSport recommends a schedule of a few visits per week of private lessons, as well as group classes, offering ample practice scenarios. At DanceSport we provide nightly practice parties with live music so that couples can dance socially just like they will at their reception.
Generally how long does a couple need to get properly prepared for the big day?
Most couples begin learning as early as two years prior to their wedding, while others only a few days. The time needed to prepare for an average couple to feel comfortable on the dance floor is usually about 4-6 months prior. We also encourage our students to perform their first dance during one of our in-house dance parties. This will allow them the opportunity to showcase their first dance in front of their teacher and other students learning to dance. (This helps the bride and groom to get over those “performance jitters”!)
