'We'll Make Your Party Spectacular.'
Those are the words we live by and have built our great reputation on.
And, when it comes to wedding's we all want a name we know we can trust.
1. When most people think of wedding music, they think of DJs, tell us how you offer a unique and special alternative to the traditional
In some aspects, I understand the want for certain songs to be the originals, but when you want to be 'entertained, 'I feel there is nothing better than an experienced and talented group of musicians performing 'live' for your family, friends, guests, as well as the Bride and Groom to make their special day as memorable as possible. The excitement you feel from a live band can only be compared to sitting in the front row of a concert featuring your favorite recording artists.
2. In your opinion, is a band best suited for the cocktail hour or reception or both?
In my opinion, a cocktail hour is mainly a time to mingle and socialize.
I feel that one or two musicians playing live background music is always a nice choice but not necessarily an entire band. I definitely think in this respect that a band is much better suited for the reception.
3. Tell us about working in conjunction with other types of entertainment such as a DJ.
Personally, as an experienced bandleader and musician, I welcome intermixing the mode of band playtime with a professional
D.J. or any other type of added entertainment, if this is what my clients wish for. Specific times during the reception are designated for different types of music: eg. Bagpipers, steel drums, up to the minute Top 40's,played by the D.J. etc. but I take it upon myself to make sure that the guests don't miss a dinner course during this change in entertainment as well as experience any empty sound moments. Of course, any other type of entertainment that is going to be incorporated with the band, is contacted by me well before the actual reception and our protocols are gone over to ensure that the music to be played is not repeated by either the band or the other entertainment.
4. What types of entertainment music do you offer?
We offer a full range of entertainment music. Music for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. From the most standard and traditional of weddings to the unique and lavish, party-themed production type. Our repertoire covers many favorite songs spanning from the Big Band era to the hottest songs of today.
5. Tell us about how you motivate the crowd and keep the party going?
Well, without 'tooting my own horn so-to-speak,” I am known to have an enormous amount of energy when I am performing. Coupled with the amount of enthusiasm I have to excite and delight, it is second nature for me to motivate a room of people that I feel connected to. My Brides and Grooms are family to me and I along with my band members take every performance to heart. When my band is playing to a crowd (whether it be of 50 people or 400 people) we rely on my experienced emcee skills coupled with the right segways performed at the right intervals to evoke an aura of excitement and enthusiasm to all party-goers.
6. Can couple’s customize their song list or do you have a repertoire they need to select from?
Every band has a standard repertoire that they indeed work with but there is always room to customize any requests given.
7. Tell us what you can add to the wedding celebration.
As the bandleader, I can add just the right amount of spectacular energy, charisma, charm and experience to wow the crowd.
8. Give us some insight on what a couple should look for when choosing a band.
When choosing a band, a couple should look for experience and reputation, a repertoire that will cover music that all of their guests will enjoy, size according to the space limitations of the room they are planning to book, and of course, price according to their entertainment budget. Of course the bands availability for their proposed wedding date is also very important to look for as well.
The most important of all, is finding a band that they can feel a connection with. Someone that will work with them closely, one-on-one in personally customizing their entertainment needs so they can feel a level of comfort for their 'Special Day.'
9. How far in advance should a couple schedule a meeting with you?
Depending on whether you are referring to a couple that has yet to plan their wedding and are just doing their shopping for entertainment and have many questions for me (I would say anytime they want to.) or for the couple that has booked my band and is ready to go over their protocol, (couples are always welcomed by me to schedule an appointment whenever there's a convenient time available. I make it a priority to do so.) However, I do emphasize the importance of a get together with my booked clients (whether over the phone, via emails or at a set appointment at my office) for at the very least two months prior to their Wedding date to go over all musical finals.
10. How far in advance should a couple book with you?
On the average, I would say that the best time to book my band is one year prior to their wedding date for availability purposes.
11. What do you require for setup and is there anything they should inform the catering hall of? There are normally no special requirements necessary to setup other then supplying the required electric for amplification purposes. We normally set up wherever the catering hall specifies us to do so.
12. Is this something younger as well as more mature couples can take advantage of, benefit from and have fun with?
Having a live band perform a vast repertoire adds an element of energy to the room that can be felt and enjoyed by all age groups.
13. What are some of the most requested songs you can boast you do?
From the Top-40 Category: Please Don't Stop The Music by Rehanna, Because Of You by Ne-yo, Whine Up by Kat DeLuna, Crazy In Love by Beyonce, to the ever so popular Classic songs: September, Let's Get Loud, Lady Marmalade, Sweet Caroline, Brown Eyed Girl, R.E.S.P.E.C.T., Soul Man, Old Time Rock'n Roll, Paradise By The Dashboard Lights, You May Be Right, That's The Way I Like It, Get Down Tonight, You're My First-My Last-My Everything, Sugar Pie Honey Bunch, Build Me Up Buttercup, Run-Around-Sue, Jesse's Girl, and let's not forget about those Classic Songs like At Last, My Girl, Wonderful Tonight, Unforgettable and Frank Sinatras Just The Way You Look Tonight and many, many more.
14. What, in your opinion is the developing trend in bands and wedding celebrations?
I have seen more diversity of the vocal fronts over the past couple of years in this business. There also seems to be more couples that have opted to forego the Traditional Cake Cutting, Bouquet and Garter tossing formalities. That's not to say that there aren't still a fair share of those couples that do want all of those 'Traditional' wedding formats.
15. Are bands appropriate for both daytime and evening events?
Absolutely!!!
16. Besides the popular music most of us are familiar with what other types of songs or music do you do?
Again, my band covers a full array of music. Covering everything from Rock to Bach with a little bit of Bob Marley thrown in.
17. Can you also play requests?
Absolutely!!!
18. Do you do any ethnic songs such as Italian, Irish, or Greek tunes to name a few?
Of course! We can play many ethnic songs and we do at the request of our clients.
19. What can hiring a band add to the wedding celebration?
We add high-energy entertainment that creates the end results of wonderful memories for all to reflect upon for years to come.
20. Tell us about some of the latest innovations and how you are keeping up with the market trends.
The latest of trends seems to be the Plasma Screen and Intelligent / Laser Light Shows. Some of our weddings have grown from the traditional standard reception into the full-blown production-entertainment package. We have and will continue to fulfill any and all requests.
21. What kind of “sound” is your particular band most noted for? (Jazz, swing, big band, etc).
We are noted for being able to perform any genre music and to emulate the original recording artist.
